Holden Manz Big G is the flagship wine of the Estate and it is named after one of the owners, Gerard Holden. 2009 was the first vintage produced and consisted of 50% cabernet sauvignon and 50% cabernet franc. In 2012 we added merlot for the first time to this traditional left bank Bordeaux styled blend, which was repeated in 2014. Produced using estate grown Franschhoek fruit the varietals are vinified separately and then matured in 30% new 225 litre French oak barrels for an average of 12 months prior to blending and then returned to barrel for a further 10 months maturation. This is the first time we have offered a vertical of the 2009 to 2014 Big G in one case. Pair with a coal roasted chateaubriand, new potatoes with a little mint and salted butter and a green salad.
