What is the difference between gold and silver tequila?

Besides the colour, the most defining difference is in how long each Tequila type is aged. Silver Tequila is distilled in stainless steel and is typically bottled immediately after distillation, whereas gold Tequila is distilled in barrels. The length of time adds to its hue (and price, accordingly).
