Wine is no side hustle. It’s serious business for those who make it — and those who enjoy it. You just have to consider the vast array of types of wine available to grasp what an incredible category this is, contributed to by farms and labels from all around the world.

Speaking for our own nation, did you know that the first bottle of wine was produced here in 1659 by that chap who arrived here on a ship — one Jan van Riebeeck? And what a journey our local winery stalwarts have been on ever since!

Besides being known for our signature red — the Pinotage — our Mediterranean-type climate makes South Africa perfect for the growing of wine grapes for a wide variety of wine types. And because of our incredible Rainbow Nation, South African wines have come to be known as a mix of Old World and New World.
