The wine was matured in French oak barrels, of which 60% new wood, for 12 to 16 months. Full-bodied, the wine displays blackberries, dark chocolate, cedar, sweet vanilla with a firm tannin structure on the palate and lingering sweet red berry fruit. Very versatile, this wine would best complement all red meat dishes. Made for food, this wine will mature well for ten years and more.
Plaisir de Merle has been making French-inspired wines in Simondium for 300 years. The Griffin a symbol of the Estate, represents the foresight and bravery of the many generations of committed guardians who have worked the land, and a standard for those to come. The wine, an ode to France.
