Don Julio Tequila: A Legacy of Passion and Precision

Born in 1942, Don Julio and his distillery La Primavera were founded in Atotonilco in the highlands of Jalisco. Don Julio’s deep passion for the land, agave and process created an exceptional tequila one that continues with the same devotion and recipe today.

Don Julio’s methods were unconventional. He treated his agave like family often whispering to them and never took shortcuts. Instead of harvesting by the field, he selected only the most mature agave, hand-picking each plant before slow-cooking it in traditional ovens and aging it in oak barrels.

He was also the first to age his tequila beyond industry standards for a richer more exceptional flavor. Don Julio’s exacting devotion to his craft is why every sip of his tequila reflects his singular passion and legacy.
