Welcome Autumn with a Glass of Nutty Balvenie PortWood
The sudden nip in the air and gloriously changing hues of perennial trees from amber to rose call for a celebration of the change of seasons, and what better way to usher May in than with a bottle of Balvenie 21 year Old PortWood whisky.
The Balvenie PortWood is matured in port casks that once held the finest port wines to bring about a veritable composition of pose and balance. The Balvenie distillery, located in Dufftown on Speyside, still proudly continue to grow their own barley and keep a traditional malting floor; which is the last of its kind in the Scottish Highlands.
Winner of the 2009 International Wine and Spirit Competitions the Balvenie PortWood 21 Year Old was awarded Best in Class. It is an elegant single malt with hints of ripe raison and white peach on the nose.
Nose: A perfume of fruity and faint puff of smoke, backed by a nutty dryness.
Palate: Refined with remarkable character, it is creamy and silky with fruit, honey and spice notes.
Finish: Long, gentle, nutty.
