A Grand Sauvignon Blanc from De Grendel
The De Grendel vineyards are situated 7 kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean, growing on slopes 200 meters above sea level.
The De Grendel Sauvignon Blanc 2013 is a classical sea breeze affected Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc. A child of a good and kind weather in the lead-up to the harvest. The prevailing wind of summer, the South Easter, known as The Cape Doctor kept the fungal diseases out of the way, the conditions dry which kept the humidity in the canopy low, delivering an exceptional wine.
This wine has a bright green hue and has abundant tropical fruit flavours of passion fruit, grapefruit and guava on the nose. The fruit follows through on the palate; giving it richness and resulting in full well balanced mouth feel that ends with a crisp dry acidity.
Appearance: Pale straw in colour with lime green flashes around the edges.
On the nose: Strong grapefruit and tropical fruit presence on nose. Guava and a green herbaceousness.
Tasting notes: Waves of granadilla and guava. Rich, well-balanced, fresh, crisp, dry and it has a long aftertaste.
