Wedderwill Wine Estate
Located near the beautiful Schapenberg the wines of Wedderwill Estate are built on a single value. Character. They believe that their wines should effectively translate the nature in which it was grown and in doing so Wedderwill Estate wines are rich in the flavours and character of every nuance of the surrounds from which they were grown.
The Wedderwill Estate Approach
The Wedderwill Estate takes its name from Old German which translates as “the will of the weather”. It is this name that captures the philosophy of the Wedderwill Estate wine growers. Working together with the terroir the wines produced are in their entirety natural.
At Wedderwill Estate they aim to make wines that capture nature in a bottle and such their approach to viticuluture and winegrowing is to interfere as little as possible with natural processes thereby giving the wine product the opportunity to correctly express the terroir in which it was grown.
For over a decade the Wedderwill Estate has been perfecting its system of sustainable business and farming practices. With concentration on reducing soil erosion, water usage and their carbon footprint. In recognition of their efforts Wedderwill Estate is one of the few local estates that has been awarded the “Champions in Conservation” title. To their main winemaker Nico Vermeulen, for who perfection is paramount, biodiversity is the key.
