Warwick Wine Estate
Situated in the sublime wine sanctuary of Stellenbosch the Warwick Wine Estate was originally known as “De Goede Sukses” from 1771 to 1902. Bought by Colonel William Alexander Gordon after the Anglo Boer War, he renamed it after his regiment, Warwickshire. In 1964 it was bought once again by Sam Ratcliffe. He had been searching the perfect wine terrain and found it in Warwick’s grounds.
The original vineyard planted was that of Cabernet Sauvignon and high quality grapes were produced. In 1984 the first official Warwick vintage was released and received with praise by the critics. In 1986 a Bordeaux blend, Warwick Trilogy, was released and has since become an emblem of the fine wines of the South African Wine Industry
