Vergenoegd Wine Estate
The vision of the Vergenoegd Wine Estate is to produce complex, full bodied wines that are as rich in their flavours as the heritage of the estate and the land itself. It has achieved this vision on multiple occasion with their wines being tagged as a Grand Champion wine.
Vergenoegd Wine Estate Heritage
The name Vergenoegd is the Dutch word for the phrase, “satisfaction has been achieved”. It is what all the winemakers of Vergenoegd have been striving to achieve throughout the generations. Six generations in fact. All of them of the Faure family.
The Vergoengd Wine Estate was granted land rights in 1696 and from 1820 the estate has been the property of the Faure family. In this day the exceptional wine grown on the experience and wealth of history is in the hands of John Faure.
The Vergenoegd Wine Estate’s approach to wine is the same it has been for generations, with the added benefit of modern technology to get the best out of the vineyards. An old world cellar is equipped with modern machinery that is offset with old world wine knowledge.
The terroir of the area is unique with its alluvial loam to sandy yellow clay soil. With Vergenoegd Wine Estate’s cool sea breezes and low lime content it is little wonder that its wine products are award winning.
