The Spier Wine Estate?s effluent treatment plant is the first of its kind in South Africa. It manages the ground water of the estate in a closed loop by cleaning, re-energising and recycling 100% of the grounds waste water.
The farming on the Spier Wine Estates grounds are biodynamic to maximize the fertility that is restored to the vineyards soil. They have outsourced most of their services and have concentrated on creating a sustainable community where the passion of farming fuels their love of quality wine.
In addition to their wine making facilities the Spier Wine Estate plays host to a number of other enriching activities. On their grounds they possess a number of eating experiences from the comfort of farm-style meals to an upscale African cuisine restaurant. They also host a wide variety of local art that is hung the spaces around the estate, constantly provoking inspiration in keeping with their ethos of doing thing differently.
