Sequillo Cellars Wine Estate
Sequillo Cellars is a vineyard that believes that wines should reflect the purity of the soils from which the grapes were grown. Their wines reflect the infinitesimal mood of the earth, intensify that energy and bring it forth with captivating flavours.
Background of Sequillo Cellars
Sequillo Cellars is located in the granite and slate rich area of Swartland. It was established in 2003 by Eben Sadie and his family team. Created as a separate wine venture from Sadie wines the Sequillo Cellars enterprise was built as a production base of a single red and white wine blend.
Focusing on flavours straight from the “terroir” Sequillo Cellars produces the red varietals Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache Noir, and Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Viognier and Rousanne for the white. Recently they have added Clairette, Palomino, Cinsault and Carignan to their harvest bouquet.
Owned by Eben Sadie, who according to many is the finest winemaker and wine visionary in South Africa, he has both his brother and sister working with him completing the Sadie legacy.
He was once quoted as saying that perfection is pointless, that all things are imperfect and wonderful because of it. Focusing on producing elegant rather than intense wines is what defines the blends and approaches he takes to wine making.
