Saxenburg is located in the South African wine lands of Stellenbosch, above the Kuils River. With a long history of vineyards this 200 hectare wine producing giant is the byword for quality.
History of Saxenburg
Saxenburg was established in 1693 by a German settler by the name of Joachim Sax. Together with his wife they began planting the vineyards that would one day produce outstanding wines. In 1701 the original manor house was built and its mark forever stamped on the grounds.
In 1705 Joachim sold the farm to two men by the name of Olaf and Albertus Bergh. It is from these early origins that Saxenburg acquired its name.
In 2005 Saxenburg was once again bought, this time by a Adrian B?hrer and his family, they were from Switzerland. They are currently the owners and together in partnership with an exceptional creware producing outstanding wines.
