Riebeek Cellars
A splendid backdrop of the Kasteelberg Mountain Range makes a perfect picture for Riebeek Cellars which is nestled in the Riebeek Valley at the foot of these imposing mountains. Riebeek Cellars is the brainchild of descendants of long-established Huguenot winemaking families and was established in 1941; most of these families have been part of the winemaking industry for centuries.
The secret of their success lies in the fact that they have kept the Riebeek traditions alive, whilst pursuing new global trends.

South Africa?s best kept secret; The Riebeek Valley which is surrounded by awe-inspiring mountains, verdant olive groves and dramatic rolling vineyards. The town is quaint and arty with tiny, interesting shops and restaurants and cafes. The Riebeek Valley is popular for its magnificent wines, outstanding cuisine and superb art. It is a place where tourists and locals will be able to savour the warm hospitality of this fine valley.
Not only is the area renowned for being the bread basket of South Africa for its grain production, the region is also globally recognized for its brilliant olive products. Nice to know is that Reibeek Cellars has a Wine Shop in the town square in Riebeek Kasteel.
Riebeek Cellars has 63 shareholders, which produces excellent reds, in particular their Shiraz. Riebeek is one of the partners in Cape Coastal Wines, which is a newly established marketing company so as to boost exports; initially these were to the USA (their Few Good Men range is hugely popular in America).
Of particular note is that an empowerment project will see to it that 150 farm and cellar workers are now in joint-ownership of a recently developed wine farm.
