Jordan Wine Estate
Gary and Kathy Jordan are the proud owners of the Jordan Wine Estate where many fine wines are produced, and have been since 1993. The 146 ha farm was bought by Gary’s parents, which is within close proximity to Stellenbosch, tucked into the hills of Alexander Valley in Sonoma County, which is one of the world’s best winegrowing regions.
The indigenous bushes that surround the Jordan Cellar are home to many chameleons that draw visitors to this superb wine estate. Of special interest is that chameleons are not found in the vineyards, but are attracted to the indigenous bushes that surround the vineyards.
Activities:
The study of chameleons has inspired the “Jordan Chameleon Research Bursary” which is awarded to students studying towards a PHD.
Each year’s fruit is treated with renewed vigour and interest, with unique and individual needs, even after 30 vintages at Jordan. Rob Davis, winemaker at Jordan, claims that each harvest is produced by using methods from olde-worlde methods based on modern and hands-on techniques.
Some wonderful wines on offer at Jordan Wine Estate are:
Three major wines are produced in the Chameleon Range by Jordan:
- Sauvignon Blanc and a Chardonnay blend.
-
Cabernet Sauvignon and a Merlot blend.
-
