J.C .Le Roux Wine Farm
For many the brand J.C. Le Roux conjures up celebrations in the mind?s eye. The name is synonymous with laughter and happy times.
J.C .Le Roux is the namesake of French Huguenot, Jean Le Roux, and the cellar is ideally positioned on part of the farm where he decided to put down roots after leaving Normandy in 1794. Steeped in history, The House of J.C. Le Roux still bears testimony to the memory of this unforgettable family in the Devon Valley on the outskirts of Stellenbosch.
The first of many sparkling wines was created at J.C. Le Roux in 1983, followed by many other fine wines that have been appreciated by many both locally and abroad.
Activities:
Season Restaurant serves fresh oysters when they are available and offers speicalised tastings that include Bubbly & Nougat delights, MCC, Mixed & Sweet Tastings, and also Scintilla Tastings in the Scintilla Lounge.
If you prefer, events and private functions can also be arranged.
The House of J.C. Le Roux is the first cellar devoted solely to the production of sparkling wine in South Africa. Of special interest is that only sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France may be called Champagne. South African sparkling wines made in the traditional French method (methode champenoise) are referred to as Methode Cap Classiques or MCC?s.
Wine that has been impregnated with CO2 bubbles is referred to as sparkling wine, whereas MCC?s undergo a second fermentation in the bottle to create those fabulous, tingly bubbles.
