Domaine Grier Wine Estate
History of Domaine Grier wine estate ? France
After meeting Jean Louis Denois from Champagne, the Grier family from Stellenbosch in SA, owners of Villiera Wines, realised their dream of owning a vineyard in the South of France, after falling in love with this region in 1983.The Grier?s visited the area regularly and eventually became involved in Fenouilledes in Roussillon for the creation of premier reds. In 2006 the perfect site was presented to the Griers.
The Griers are renowned for quality Cap Classique as well as a comprehensive range of white and red wines, where they practice environmentally friendly techniques.
Activities The cellar where the
Domaine Grier wines are produced is located in the tiny village of St. Paul de Fenouillet, and is perfectly located between the tourist route and the train station, which is a mere 8 kms from the vineyard. This boutique cellar is soundly equipped and is roomy with a small insulated barrel-type storage area. A tasting area for customers is presently being planned for use during the summer months.
Domaine Grier Galamus is the namesake of a deep gorge with a Cliffside monastery, combined with the force of nature and spirit existing in the village of St. Paul. The perfect combination of water, wind and the labour of the hard-working locals culminate in the exquisiteness of the wine. The 2009 vintage of Galamus is only the third vintage of this stunning product and earlier this year it received a gold medal at Concours Mondial du Vin in Brussels.
