De Toren Private Cellar Wines
It is well known that a vineyard with a view of the ocean is a good vineyard. The first impression of De Toren Private Cellar is limitless, with dappled light sprinkled by mischievous breezes.
The impressive Stellenbosch region has produced outstanding wines for the past 300 years. This wine-growing region is perfectly located right in the heart of the Western Cape, and is within close proximity to Cape Town and the airport. De Toren Private Cellar is a privately-owned vineyard that belongs to Emil and Sonette Den Dulk.
De Toren Private Cellar lies on the sunny slopes of the Polkadraai Hills with sweeping views of False Bay, with the splendid Mountains of Stellenbosch in the background. De Toren is close to the ocean, with a cool and mild Mediterranean climate, with rainfall in winter and dry summers combined with a low level of humidity, allowing the grapes to ripen gradually and evenly.
Current Activities
Due to the fact that the estate is situated close to the ocean has resulted in the five classic cultivars of Bordeaux, viz. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot which are grown industriously at De Toren Vineyards.
De Toren?s Vineyards are immaculately maintained and the cellar?s tower offers a unique and distinctive outline. The vineyard ensures that the grapes are never subjected to harsh mechanical pumps, but are handled with gentle, loving care; this is one of the secrets of the success of this outstanding brand. The notion of a gravity fed winery, basket pressing and hand harvesting of the five Bordeaux grape varieties results in a winning formula.
