Bartinney Private Cellar
History of Bartinney Private Cellar
It is not surprising that a director of Harrods fell head over heels in love with one of the finest valleys in the Cape. The perfect marriage of English Tudor combined with Cape Dutch styles, blend together, resulting in the fine Bartinney farm. In 1954, Dr Michael Jordaan purchased this prime property and today, the current owners happen to be fourth generation owners of this farm.
Situated on the steep slopes of Helshoogte Pass, the farm enjoys sweeping, panoramic views of the Banghoek Valley of Stellenbosch.
In 2006, Michael and Rose Jordaan re-bought the 40 ha farm with a view to produce brilliant wines and to return the farm to its former splendour, and in 2008 the home was declared a permanent residence to the Jordaan family.
Bartinney Private Cellar Activities:
There is a boutique cellar which is newly renovated and produces outstanding Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay wines.
In excess of 5000 trees as well as indigenous fynbos have been planted by Rose Jordaan, whose main focus is on the planting of trees. The farm was formerly a pine and gum plantation, and plans for a nursery are in progress.
