ALLÉE BLEUE WINES
More than three centuries ago, the Huguenot settlers saw an ideal place and the perfect climate for growing wine on the fertile slopes of the Franschhoek Valley. Indeed a flourishing winegrowing business did develop in the region, but it was devastated by the phylloxera blight in the 19th century. So, Allee Bleue Wine Estate in Simondium, was created.
Allee Bleue Wine Estate in Simondium is one of the oldest vineyards in the Franschhoek Valley and it not only surrounded by vineyards, but also fruit orchards and large fields of fragrant herbs and lavender.
Allee Bleue white wines are fruity and the reds are well matured in French oak giving off spicy aromas and earthy undertones. The estate which was founded in 1690 and covers 150 hectares had not produced a single drop of fine wine for almost 100 years. It was renovated by the new owners and is once again producing top-class red and white wines.
The fresh herbs are packed and distributed on a daily to customers in the Western Cape and are grown in modern greenhouse facilities. The fruits grown on the estate are Nectarines, Pears, Plums and Persimmons - for both the export and local markets. The varieties grown include Alpine and Mayglo nectarines, Laetitia, Songold, Ruby Nel, Amber Jewel, Pioneer, Teak Gold, Purple Majesty, Sun Kiss, Plums and Packham Triumph Pears.
The Allee bleue wines are among the very best in the world. The estate is a unique place in a heavenly setting and offers an alluring combination of the new and the old.
